Several members were recognized during a department ceremony tonight for their recent promotions and achievements.
Promotions:
Firefighter/EMT Tyler Bower
Firefighter Bower was appointed to the call department in September of 2017. He attended the MFA Call/Vol Academy in 2018 where he obtained his Firefighter I/II certification. Tyler obtained his EMT certification in 2019.
In 2023 Firefighter Bower joined DCR Forest Fire Control where he has gained vast knowledge of wildland firefighting. Tyler has held the position of Firefighter II with DCR until this past Saturday.
Firefighter/EMT Tyler Bower has been promoted to career status effective July 1st, 2025. Tyler will be assigned to Group A.
Firefighter/EMT David Gates
Firefighter Gates was appointed to the call department in July of 2023. He graduated the MFA Call/Vol in Spring of 2024, earning his Firefighter I/II certification. David obtained his EMT certification in November of 2024. David has demonstrated outstanding work ethic since he joined the department. He quickly became one of our most active call members.
Firefighter/EMT David Gates has been promoted to career status effective July 1st, 2025. David will be assigned to Group D.
Achievements:
FF Ryan Chase and FF Derek Faulk recently completed the 240 hour MFA Call/Vol program and obtained their FF I/II certification.
FF Robert Macomber and FF David Gates completed EMT school. Both succeeding in achieving their EMT certifications.
Firefighter/Paramedic Paul Ashley Jr. completed his Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science. Firefighter/Paramedic Kenneth Sullivan completed his Associate of Science Degree in Fire Safety & Technology.
Firefighter/Paramedic Samantha Cardin completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Administration.
We also have 3 new Probationary Call Firefighters Ethan Smith, Andrew DeRusha, Stephen Frappier, and Alex Columbus.
