At approximately 10:30 AM today, the Freetown Fire Department responded to a grass and brush fire in the rear of 46 High Street.
Crews quickly mobilized, with Car 1, Squad 1, and Breaker 3 arriving on scene alongside two wildfire response trucks from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Firefighters worked diligently for two hours to fully contain and extinguish the blaze, which had spread across approximately four acres.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding units, the fire was brought under control without any reported injuries or structural damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
